Intuitive cinema, with or without white screen, with or without focus, without pop corn neither carbonated drinks, structured by a confused screenplay. Autistic proposition of pictures in movement running one after the other and thrown by means of ancestral instruments substituted for few years by the high digital acrobatics. With Le Point Aveugle we propose a session of live cinema, visual and sound performance using several projectors 16mm. The original images are manipulated and modified by various means: variations of focal, superimposing, rehearsals of sequences, partial maskings, additions of colored filters or transparent objects... Conceived as a dialogue between several film-makers, this performance considers the film image as material and light, as a spouting out visual stream of the darkness, destroyed and reconstructed permanently. By abandoning the story to redefine us on the nature of the film medium, we try to create something of the order of a contemplative journey, leaving to every spectator the care of leading its own investigation...

Laurence Barbier

Film-maker and illustrator, she realizes animated films and illustrations for theatre setting and live shows. She worked with the “Théatre Jeune Public“ (“Young Public Theater”) in Strasbourg, the “Atelier du Rhin” (Workshop from the Rhine”) in Colmar, companies of theater as “Fraction”, “Histoire Encore” (“History still”), Semaphore, “Plume D’Elephant” (“Feather of elephant”), as well as company of narrators, “Les Mots Du Vent” (“The Words of the Wind”). Her domain of predilection is animated films. She works and mixes different techniques, from film to digital photo, from paper to computer. She is one of the founder members of the association Burstscratch, in which she experiments with Super 8 and 16mm film to make movies or installations.

Silvi Simon

Silvi Simon has made animated films, performances and installations. She films and develops her images in black and white using different traditional and experimental techniques (shooting frame by frame, hand-coloring, light play, solarization, reticulation, cameraless filmmaking, chimigrams).

In her last installation, Filmatruc, optical machines are in constant transformation, movement and screen size become virtual and real: optical illusion, persistence of vision, motors and projection; tiny projections for mobile screens on which the image hangs only by a thread, to be touched with the hands or the eyes...
Here the work is to be handled, metamorphosized, activated: it is fugitive and sensitive. We experience the present moment, awaking our curiosity.

There is constant research into the projected image in artist-based and artisan film production.

Silvi Simon was born in 1970 in Livry-Gargan. She lives and works in Strasbourg. She studied plastic and audiovisual arts (DUCAV) at the Université des Sciences Humaines in Strasbourg. There she made her first Super 8 films. In 1995, she moved to Brussels to study film animation at ENSAV, La Cambre. There she made her first installations with different organizations including the Nova cinema. She is an active member of the Burstscratch group (production and programming of Super 8 and 16mm films). In 1999, she organized a mobile film lab, the CamionCinéLab (TruckFilmLab).Since 1995, her work has been shown in many festivals and art centers: La Fiac, (Paris), The Film Gallery (paris), Lab Meetings (Brussels), Chalon dans la Rue, Les Abattoirs (Chalon sur Saône), La Machinerie (Strasbourg), Festival National du Film d’Animation (Auch), Festival des Cinémas Différents (Paris), Festival off de la photo (Arles), Festival Paris Cinéma, l’AFCA, Traverses Vidéo (Toulouse), Festival Images Imaginées (Orléans), pour l'exposition XXL, Lieu Unique (Nantes), Bandits Mages (Bourges), Pellicula et Basta (Grenoble), Rencontre des Labos Indépendants (Genève).
